Vias, yesterday and
today

Vias has undergone vast changes but has
always retained its solid identity.
From one century to the next, History,
as big as it may be, has continued on its
way, embracing the centuries, from the
Prehistoric time (Neolithcs), to the Gallo-
Roman era, and the medieval, modern
periods, to the summary clamour of modern
day.
Our Commune has, down the millennium,
gone from having several basic homes
around a tower or a church, to a village
whose urban expansion exploded around
the historical centre.
The seaside resort progressively developed
Farinette at the start of the 1950s along with
expanding tourism. The local economy also
took off.

a poultry farmer in Aveyron, created the
second establishment of this type. What

success? The toilets! An innovation for the
period!
